Kim Starr Wise Floral Events was recently featured in Carats & Cake for Irene & Ricardo’s wedding at The Chicory in New Orleans. Irene & Ricardo flew all the way from Ecuador to get married in New Orleans!

Like many venues in New Orleans, The Chicory has a storied past and perfectly suited for our foreign couple. What started as a coffee warehouse in the 1850s is now an incredible event space with pressed tin ceilings, real gas lanterns, exposed brick and has the original beams.

We absolutely loved how the floral designs came out in this beautiful juxtaposition with hundreds of hanging Edison light bulbs in this cozy industrial, yet rustic space.

Wedding seated dinner at The Chicory

Suspended garden roses, regular roses, and spray roses, commingling with lightbulbs in custom designed wood structures that perfectly matched the interior of the venue.

Wedding flower centerpieces

Their seated dinner for about 150 people, consisted of rows of long banquet tables that were lined with flower centerpieces in different gold mercury bud vases and compotes, incorporating a blush, ivory, peach and burgundy color palette.  I used nerine lilies, burgundy spray roses, blush tulips, plumose, seeded eucalyptus, David Austin’s Kate Garden, ilse spray roses, pink astilbe and smilax vines.

Tiered wedding cake with floral bouquets

Clusters of David Austin Juliet garden roses, blush ranunculus, white anemones and ivory majolica spray roses dotted each tier of their wedding cake.

Floral wedding bouquet

For Irene, I created an asymmetric shaped bouquet, incorporating pepper berries, cafe au lait dinner plate dahlias, jasmine vine, astilbe, David Austin Juliet garden roses, ranunculus, seeded eucalyptus, plumose, and was elegantly finished with ivory silk ribbon.
